Kolkata: India is slowly catching up with the European nations in the global COVID-19 ladder with the country’s nationwide tally of confirmed cases crossing 2.4 lakhs on June 7. Currently, India are placed at sixth with 247,195 confirmed cases. Spain (288,390) and UK (284,868) are in fourth and fifth places respectively.
India had registered more than 9000 cases for the third time in a row. Earlier, Italy confirmed 9887 cases in a single day and the current stands at 234,801. The US are at the top followed by Russia and Brazil. In India, on June 7, Maharashtra reported 2,739 new cases, Tamil Nadu 1,458, West Bengal 435 and Rajasthan 253 as per daily bulletins put by the respective states.
Overall Maharashtra has 80,229 confirmed cases out of which 35,156 have recovered while Tamil Nadu with 28,694 cases has been able to send 15,762 patients home cured. In West Bengal, the total number of cases has risen to 7,303 cases with 2,912 recovering. In Rajasthan 10,084 confirmed cases have been reported with 7,359 recovered.
Maharashtra recorded a total of 2849 deaths, Tamil Nadu 232, West Bengal 366 and Rajasthan 218 so far. Globally, the total number of confirmed cases is 6,804,044 with 362,678 deaths until now.
