Indian Flag To Be Hoisted At UNSC, Marking Its Two-Year Tenure

New Delhi: To mark the two-year tenure as a non-permanent member of the powerful United Nations body, the Indian flag will be installed at the UN Security Council stakeout during a special ceremony on January 4.
Five new incoming non-permanent members’ country flags will also be installed during the first official working day of 2021.
The installation of the tricolor will be done by T S Tirumurti, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador. During the ceremony, he is also expected to make brief remarks.
India will mark its feet with five permanent members China, France, Russia, the UK and the US and the incoming UNSC members Norway, Kenya, Ireland and Mexico.
Moreover, along with them, India will be joined by six non-permanent members, namely Estonia, Niger, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tunisia and Vietnam. In August 2021, India will preside over the Council again for a month in 2022 and till then be the UNSC President.
