Hyderabad: Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj’s father Mohammad Ghouse breathed his last on Friday, due to a lung ailment. He was 53.
Siraj, who is currently with the Indian squad in Australia, is unlikely to come back owing to the strict quarantine protocols for COVID-19. Ghouse, who belonged to a humble background, supported Siraj’s dreams of becoming a cricketer.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, for whom Siraj had a good season in the recently concluded Indian Premier League, took to Twitter to express their condolences for the loss.
Siraj ended up with 11 wickets in the nine games he played for the Virat Kohli-led franchise and played a crucial role in the side making it to the play-offs. One of his most memorable performances this season was against Kolkata Knight Riders where he single-handedly destroyed their top order in a game which the Royal Challengers ended up winning comfortably.
