New Delhi: The positivity rate of India’s Covid-19 pandemic has exceeded 20 per cent, according to the latest government data. The data suggests that one in five people who are getting tested are infected.
The figure is the highest since mid-May 2021 when the second wave was on blast leading to surge in hospitalisations. The healthcare system in major cities came under severe pressure.
The positivity rate, the number of cases for every 100 tests, in over 200 districts is higher than the national average. Thiruvananthapuram, Faridabad, and North Goa are on top of the list (46 per cent ) where one in two people getting tested have Covid-19.
The figures in Rohtak, Pune, and Mohali are also over 40 per cent while it’s 39 per cent in South Goa.
India logged 3.06 lakh cases on Monday, January 24.
