Dubai: Chennai Super Kings’ poor run in this year’s Indian Premier League continued as they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven runs in Dubai, on Friday.
Batting first, Sunrisers were led by youngster Priyam Garg, who struck a 26-ball unbeaten 51 to propel his side to 164/5. Other significant contributions in the total included that of David Warner (28), Manish Pandey (29) and Abhishek Sharma (31).
In response, the Chennai batting wilted under pressure, having lost early wickets. But they were kept in the game by Ravindra Jadeja (50) and despite a late fightback from skipper MS Dhoni (47*), Hyderabad won the contest by seven runs to grab the fourth spot in the points table.
Brief scores: Sunrisers Hyderabad 164/5 (Garg 51*, Sharma 31; Chahar 2/31) beat Chennai Super Kings 157/5 (Jadeja 50, Dhoni 47*, Natarajan 2/43) by seven runs.
