Kolkata: The 2021 IPL was halted due to some players testing positive despite having to stay in the bio-bubble. The cash-rich tournament will resume from September 19.  Now as per a news item, the 2022 IPL may have 10 teams instead of 8.

According to a report by Insidesport, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has given enough hints that the IPL can be bigger next year. Discussions on adding two more teams are very much on, Dhumal informed. But the final decision hasn’t been taken yet.

Sources say some of the cities in contention are Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Pune, Guwahati, Indore, Kochi, Raipur and Trivandrum. Ahmedabad seems to be the frontrunner to bag one of the slots.
