Kolkata: The sudden and unnatural death of renowned Bollywood singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, commonly known as KK, following a concert here has thrown up several questions about the organisers’ preparedness. Kolkata Police have lodged a case of unnatural death and they are monitoring the CCTV footage to know what happened prior to the singer’s hospitalisation.

According to the staff members of Nazrul Manch auditorium in the southern part of the city, the venue was overcrowded during the KK concert. “Our seat capacity was 2,482 but the crowd was more than double the capacity. The crowd broke the gate,” Nazrul Mancha staff Chandan Maity was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

A video surfaced in which people were seen spraying a fire extinguisher outside the venue in a desperate attempt to disperse the large crowd that had gathered.

Several people claimed on social media that the AC wasn’t working at the concert venue and the heat became unbearable.

A video clip showed that the singer was heard saying, “Bohot zyada garam hai (it is very hot)”. At one point, KK was seen gesturing to a man on stage and appeared to be talking about the air-conditioning system of the venue.
