Fatorda: ATK Mohun Bagan pipped North East United FC (NEUFC) 2-1 in the second leg to reach the final of the Indian Super League (ISL) 7 in Fatorda on Tuesday. ATK Mohun Bagan will take on Mumbai City FC in the title clash on Saturday.
Having drawn the first leg 1-1, ATK Mohun Bagan held fort on Tuesday against a spirited NorthEast United to win (3-2 on aggregate) over the Highlanders.
By virtue of this win, the Mariners have set up a mouth-watering blockbuster title clash against rivals and Mumbai City FC.
The result also means that ATK Mohun Bagan qualified for the AFC Cup Group Stages after finishing second in the league and qualifying for the final. Their opponents in the final, Mumbai City FC, have sealed the Asian Champions League berth.
David Williams (38’) continued his form in the playoffs by scoring yet another goal while Manvir Singh (68’) added the second before Suhair Vadakkepeedika (74’) reduced the margin for the Highlanders.
