Thiruvananthapuram: The local body election results in Kerala have put the CPM-led LDF in the driver’s seat with victories in 514 of the 941 gram panchayats, four of the six corporations, 10 of the 14 district panchayats and 112 of the 152 block panchayats.
According to The Indian Express, the LDF is in lead in 514 gram panchayats, the UDF is ahead in 375 and the NDA in 23 seats.
Excited with the trend, CM Pinarayi Vijayan said it is the victory of the people and a fitting reply to the central government agencies which are trying to “wreck the state”.
Congress-led United Democratic Front, which was earlier seen putting up a good show in the first round of counting that began at 8 am, seems to have failed to effectively use Vijayan government’s numerous alleged scams.
A greater setback was evident for the BJP, which was seen promising that they will ride high, but failed to do so to the desired levels of their expectations, reported news agency IANS.
