Kolkata: The 26 th Kolkata International Film Festival will be held on a smaller scale and most importantly virtually. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee confirmed the news through her Twitter handle on Wednesday.
According to her tweet, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will virtually attend the inaugural ceremony on January 08.
“Together we will overcome this pandemic. But the show must go on. We are going ahead with #KIFF 2021 virtually, on a smaller scale. Glad that my brother @iamsrk will join us virtually at the inaugural event on Jan 8, 4pm. Watch Kolkata International Film Festival live,” the CM tweeted.

The 26th Kolkata International Film Festival was supposed to be held from November 5 to 12 last year. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was rescheduled for January 8-15 this year.
Among 1,170 movies that were submitted for consideration, the KIFF authorities have selected 132 feature films, documentaries and short films to be screened virtually. Among these 132 films, there are 81 feature films, 50 short films and documentaries from as many as 45 countries.
