New Delhi: Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa has revealed that he saw different sides of Virat Kohli in the recently concluded 13th edition of Indian Premier League. Adam was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as Kane Richardson’s replacement in the tournament.
The 28-year-old said that he feels Kohli is competitive, intimidating and antagonist in the field, but when it comes to off-field, he is generous, humble as well as accomodating.
During an interview on The Unplayable Podcast for Cricket Australia, Adam said, “He’s a different person off the field. You see his aggression and how competitive he is on the field, he’s one of the most chilled out guys off the field. You always play against him, you get to know what he’s like on the field and then being able to spend time away from the cricket field with guys like that, you see how human they are,” as quoted by DNA.
He further said that he has troubled Kohli numerous times when he used to play against him. He also dismissed the Delhi lad in 7 out of 21 outings against him.
However, when he played with him in the same team, Adam said that Kohli made him laugh with silly jokes till his cheeks became sore.
“He’s the kind of guy (that) as soon as he walks across that line, he’s a competitive beast. I saw it first hand playing with him, there are two different versions of him and that’s the weight of expectation he has on himself to perform for India. But when he’s off the field he’s a lovely guy and very chilled out. He’d had enough of me by the end of it trying to make him laugh until his cheeks were sore,” Adam concluded.
