Kolkata: Doctor Fuad Halim, the CPM candidate supported by the United Front (Sanjukta Morcha) for the Ballygunge assembly constituency, has set an example in the COVID-19 pandemic in West Bengal. Halim has donated his blood plasma — not once or twice — but for the seventh time on Friday.
Halim donated blood plasma to Kolkata Medical College Hospital for the seventh time to create a record of sorts. This is the first time in the state that someone has donated blood plasma seven times. Earlier, he had donated plasma six times to the same hospital.
This is not the first time that Halim, the son of the late Hashim Abdul Halim, the former speaker of the state assembly, has gone beyond politics to help people out in distress. He is also known for continuing almost free dialysis and treatment for complex kidney diseases in his medical facility in Kolkata.
