Kolkata: Now, here’s some good news for Idol makers all over the state of West Bengal. The pandemic last year had hit hard with their business at the receiving end, but this time around there is a strong ray of light at the end of the tunnel.
There is an air of optimism among the artists in Kumartuli, the hub of idol making in the northern part of the city as the artists exude the confidence of better business prospects this year.
“We’re receiving more orders of Durga idols compared to last year. Due to Covid, we suffered huge losses last year,” said idol maker Mintu Pal while speaking to ANI. And Pal isn’t the only one. The general perception indicates the demand would be much higher than the previous year which is a respite for these talented artists whose business was jolted due to the pandemic.
Bengal’s biggest festival will be celebrated between October 11 and 15. Here’s looking forward to five days of limitless fun and ecstasy – much needed amid the devastation caused by Covid.
