Mumbai: A dramatic turn was witnessed in Maharashtra. Siv Sena rebel Eknath Shinde became the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Shinde has been supported by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while former CM Devendra Fadnavis occupying the chair of deputy CM on Thursday. The rebel Shiv Sena leader was sworn in as the Chief Minister on Thursday evening itself.
Uddhav Thackeray relinquished his position of chief minister and left the field on Wednesday. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government fell like a pack of cards soon after Shinde gathered support from BJP.
There were also rumours doing the rounds that Devendra Fadnavis will take over as the next Chief Minister with Eknath Shinde as his deputy. But things got clearer as the day progressed. The Leader of the Opposition of Maharashtra came to the press conference on Thursday and sprung a surprise.
