New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a 45-minute discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on several issues including the state’s GST dues. Mamata Banerjee met Modi at the latter’s official residence in New Delhi on Friday.
For the past few days, the political circles have been abuzz with the outcome of the meeting in spate of recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) arresting former West Bengal industry minister Partha Chatterjee.
The opposition alleged that Mamata met the Prime Minister in Delhi to escape from the hands of ED and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Left and Congress, however, are still adamant about their ‘setting’ theory.
On the contrary, Trinamool Congress leadership claimed that Mamata’s visit to Delhi is to collect arrears of the money from the Centre. Moreover, Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to attend the Niti Aayog meeting on Sunday.
According to sources, PM Modi and Mamata Banerjee talked about several issues in this meeting and urged PM to intervene on the money dues from GST and other projects. She apparently request the prime minister to clear all dues at the earliest.
