Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has come down heavily on Centre and expressed her anger that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wanted to meet her on her visit to India but was not invited by the Centre. She raised that anger from the dais of Netaji Indoor Stadium during the Trinamool Congress’ special session on Thursday.

“My personal relationship with Hasina ji is very good. I send sarees during Puja, they send mangoes, they send hilsa. She (Hasina) herself expressed desire to meet me. I saw it in a newspaper. But this is the first time I saw that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh has come where Bengal is not there. Why so much anger? Why so much fear?”

Earlier, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the central government for preventing her from going even though she had been invited from various countries. “Invitation came from Chicago, I was stopped. I was not allowed to go. The invitation came from Stephen’s College, I was not allowed to go, the invitation came from China, I was not allowed to go there. Wherever they go. I say only one thing, Bengal has everything. My world revolves around Bengal,” Mamata said on Thursday.

Highlighting the heritage of Bengal, she further said, “Bangla will get the Best of the World Award in Berlin in 2023. Best is Bengal as destination of the Tourist Spot. Also got Durga Puja award. I just say, let us work.”
