Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who lost to BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram in the Assembly Elections held recently, is likely to contest from Bhowanipur.
Bhawanipur sitting Trinamool Congress MLA Sovandeb Chattopadhyay has resigned to the Speaker on Friday. It is learnt that Chattopadhyay is likely to continue as a cabinet minister and contest from some other seat.
Party sources said that the TMC has decided Banerjee will contest from her traditional winning seat — Bhowanipur in South Kolkata.
