Muzaffarnagarh: A man in Pakistan’s Muzaffarnagarh district in Punjab, allegedly burnt alive seven members of his own family, including his two daughters and four grandchildren, because one of the women tied the nuptial knot without taking him into confidence. The attack adds to the list of the growing incidence of honour killing in Pakistan, according to India Today.

Manzoor Hussain set a house on fire where his daughters Fauzia Bibi and Khurshid Mai were putting up with their families. Bibi, her infant son, Mai and her husband, and their four minor children died in the fire.

Bibi’s husband Mehboob Ahmad, the only survivor, lodged a police complaint against his father-in-law Manzoor Hussain and his son Sabir Hussain.

“I was in Multan for business. When I returned and was near my home, I saw it in flames. Two men, Manzoor Hussain and Sabir Hussain, were seen fleeing the spot,” Mehboob Ahmad told the police.
