New Delhi: In a sudden political twist, Biplab Kumar Deb resigned as the Chief Minister of Tripura and the BJP appointed Dr Manik Saha as the new Tripura CM on Saturday. Dr Saha is a dentist by profession and was elected to the Rajya Sabha only last month.
Deb convened a BJP legislature party meeting, announced Saha’s name as the next chief minister of the state, and vowed to rally behind him.
However, things did not go as planned as chaotic scenes were witnessed at the BJP headquarters in Tripura. Minister Ram Prasad Paul openly protested the proposal leading to heated arguments. Paul reportedly broke a few chairs before the situation was brought under control. A video of him screaming has emerged. “Main mar jaunga (I will die),” he repeatedly heard screaming.
