Bulandshahr: A man convicted of murder and serving a life imprisonment was arrested by the Bulandsahr police here but sixteen years of having himself declared dead. The accused named, Aniraj was arrested in 1988 in Sardhana Meerut district. He was convicted by both the trial and the apex court on murder charges and then sentenced to life imprisonment.
Aniraj waited for a few years and then applied for parole in 2004. He was granted parole on compassionate grounds. Once he was out, he forged himself a fake death certificate and declared himself dead. For the next sixteen years, he lived a carefree life but then last year, the crime branch in Bulandshahr received a tip that Aniraj is alive and that the death certificate is fake. After the news broke, a reward of Rs 20,000 was announced and he was arrested on Thursday with a country-made pistol in his possession.
During the investigation, it was found that his wife played an important role in declaring her husband dead. They used to meet in jail and then plan. Once he was out on parole and declared dead, he applied for a security job in Noida. All these years he lived as a security guard in Noida, Panipat, Gurugram and the NCR. He lived with his wife and two children.
