Kolkata: Amid discontent and factionalism within the BJP’s West Bengal unit, the national president of Centre’s ruling party summoned state unit chief Dilip Ghosh for a meeting in New Delhi. The meeting is expected to be held on Sunday morning.
Though Ghosh was tight-lipped on the matter, a source in the state BJP told news agency IANS that he is taking a flight to Delhi on Saturday night itself.
Following the assembly elections drubbing earlier this year, voices of dissent have grown louder within the state unit of the saffron party.
Ghosh’s visit to the national capital at this juncture is considered to be significant in the political fraternity.
IANS’ sources indicated that the meeting is to discuss several changes in the organisational set-up of the party’s state unit.
According to a senior BJP leader, the party is aware of the leaders who have spoken openly against the party line. Now it is expected that Nadda will be willing to take stock of things from the state president. Recently leaders like Soumitra Khan, Rajib Banerjee and even former union minister Babul Supriyo have expressed dissatisfaction over the party’s calls. This has not gone down well with the party’s central leadership.
