New Delhi: Twitter on Monday night announced Parag Agarwal as the new CEO to succeed founder Jack Dorsey.

The 37-year-old IIT Bombay graduate will earn an annual salary of $1 million (roughly Rs 7.5 crores) plus bonuses, Twitter said in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Besides the million-dollar package, Agarwal will also earn restricted stock units valued at $12.5 million (roughly Rs 93.9 crores). The stock unit will be vested in 16 equal quarterly increments, commencing in February 2022.

According to Twitter, Agarwal had also received RSUs and PRSUs earlier in 2021, but specific details are unavailable.

Agarwal was named Twitter CEO after Dorsey stepped down in a surprising decision. The IIT Bombay alumnus now joins the elite group of Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella, and several other India-origin techies.

“I look forward to building on everything we have accomplished under Jack’s leadership and I am incredibly energized by the opportunities ahead,” Agarwal was quoted as saying in the media.
