Shimla: The state government on Monday decided to impose night curfew in Shimla, Mandi, Kullu and Kangra districts from 8 pm to 6 am barring those involved in discharging essential services. The decision came after an entire village in Lahaul-Spiti district tested positive for COVID-19 excluding one resident.
Bhushan Thakur (52) was the only person who tested negative. A religious gathering is being linked to the outspread of the virus and community transmission. To contain the spread, tourism movement has been limited to Teling nullah near the north portal of the Rohtang Tunnel.
Schools have been instructed to remain closed till December 31. All political rallies, and even public grievance redressal meetings — Jan Manch — have also been suspended, and all government offices have been mandated to operate with 50 per cent manpower, on rotation, till the middle of next month.
The administration further stated that outdoor functions may also be curbed if the coronavirus situation does not improve. The fine for not wearing a mask in public places has been raised to ₹ 1,000.
Moreover, elections to four municipal corporations would be held in March-April next year.
