Mumbai: Indian standup comedian Kunal Kamra, who made news because of mid-air tiff with Arnab Goswami, is once again in the limelight after a series of critical tweets.

Soon after when Arnab was granted interim bail by the apex court on Thursday, Kamra took to Twitter to criticise the jurisdiction for this decision.

At least eight people accused Kamra of contempt of court and sued him.

But the standup comedian did not step behind and fought for his ‘freedom of expression’ and said that “the silence of the Supreme Court of India on matters of other’s personal liberty cannot go uncriticised.”

He added that he does not intend to retract the tweets nor apologise for them. He asked that the time that may be allotted for hearing his contempt case should be spent on more important cases pending before the court.

People across the country have supported Kamra’s views via his tweets and memes.

And this time too, people didn’t let him stand alone.

Kamra’s open letter, which was tweeted at 12.37 pm on Friday, in just about an hour had been liked over 20 thousand times and had been retweeted four thousand times.

By 2 pm the likes were over 25 thousand and the letter had been retweeted five and a half thousand times.

Not only Kamra, but there are many who raised same questions against the top court for tagging Arnab’s bail plea as ‘urgent’ instead of giving heed to other serious cases which are shut in files for years.
