Islamabad: Pakistan objected to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kashmir. Islamabad has also expressed dissatisfaction with the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of Rattle and Kwar Hydroelectric Projects on the Chandrabhaga River. The neighbours claim that the project is in direct violation of the Indus Water Treaty.
PM Modi is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday for the first time since the abbrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution in August 2019. During the visit, he would lay the foundation stone of a hydropower project under construction on the Chandrabhaga River in Kishtwar.
An 850 MW hydropower project is being constructed at a cost of Rs 5,300 crore and on the same river a 540 MW Qar hydropower project is being built at a cost of about 4,500 crore.
