Pakistan: When COVID-19 had first hit the world, everyone from one nation to another revealed different remedies to beat the virus.
In a similar case, a Pakistan-based television channel GNN TV, while broadcasting a live program with Dr Shahid Masood, where he claimed that consuming popcorn builds immunity against the new Coronavirus.
Masood said, “Eat popcorn to increase immunity against the new COVID second wave mutation, which is N501Y. Eat popcorn, it increases immunity.” The anchor on the show was also seen smiling at the doctor’s advise.
Pakistani journalist, Nayla Inayat tweeted the video of Masood which has left the citizens of both India and Pakistan shocked.
After the video went viral Senior journalist Tarek Fatah tweeted, “Pakistani physician claims eating popcorn is the best way to build immunity against #COVID19. Which begs the question: How does one country produce so many rectums? How does Pakistan do it?”
From cow dung and cow urine to now eating popcorn, people have suggested bizarre treatments for the virus.
The new infectious strain has been reported to several countries including Pakistan.
As of now, 479,715 cases of the novel coronavirus were registered in Pakistan of which 435,073 people have recovered, claiming the lives of 10,105.
