Mumbai: Former Mumbai police commissioner, Param Bir Singh, who was recently declared a ‘Proclaimed Offender’ by a Magistrate court, resurfaced in the city on Thursday morning. He also joined the police probe into an alleged extortion case filed against him.
As per the Supreme Court’s direction, Singh reported to the Crime Branch Unit 11 at Kandivali Police Station to join the investigation. He had said on Wednesday that he was in Chandigarh.
“I am joining the investigation as directed by the court,” Singh was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.
It may be recalled that the IPS officer was ‘untraceable’ since last May. Singh is facing at least 5 extortion cases besides a government-appointed panel investigation here.
He was recently granted interim protection against arrest by the top court till December 6.
