Paresh Rawal Begins Shoot For His Gujarati Comeback ‘Dear Father’

Mumbai: Versatile actor Paresh Rawal who had stayed away from Gujarati films for 40 years, has started shooting for Dear Father (based on his play of the same name) in Vadodara.

After doing Naseeb Ni Balihari in 1982, Paresh took almost 40 years to make his foray back into Gujarati cinema. The reason is simple — lack of good scripts.

But Rawal does have respect for the richness of Gujarati theatre. “The audience has been nurtured over the years due to the fantastic theatre scene in Gujarati. I am ready to accept new ideas and hungry for good content,” Rawal said.

Dear Father also stars Chetan Dhanani and Manasi Parekh in the main lead. Chetan in fact has featured in the play as well. The successful play has been staged over 550 times.

Producer Ratan Jain says, “The subject of Dear Father has a rare combination of humour and emotion in equal parts and I am very happy to partner with Paresh bhai on it.”

Directed by Umang Vyas, the film has all the ingredients to stir the audience’s interest for sure, or else Rawal wouldn’t have agreed on the project.
