Lahore: PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja has a close connect with India and Indian cricket and this reflects on his honest endeavour to build bridges with the BCCI despite political tensions with New Delhi.
According to ANI, Raja met up with senior BCCI officials like president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the ACC meetings and underscored the importance of creating a cricketing bond between the two countries. “We need to create a cricketing bond, while I have also believed that politics should stay away from the sport as much as possible and this has always been our stance. A lot of of work needs to be done to revitalise Pakistan-India cricket but there needs to be some comfortable level between the two boards and then we can see how far we can go,” he said.
Fans of the game on both sides of the border have reason enough to be ecstatic, but it remains to be seen if Raja can actually take this vision forward and persuade the establishments to take the right step ahead.
