Sydney: The cricket team of India escaped from a plane crash which took place at a sporting field in Cromer Park in Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia.

The plane which was carrying two individuals, crashed 30 kilometres away from Sydney Olympic Park where the Indian cricket team have been stationed. Cricket and football matches were going on when the plane careened into the field, just missing a sporting shed where about a dozen people were gathered. The players ran for shelter on seeing the plane approaching.

The senior vice-president of Cromer Cricket Club, Greg Rollins, informed, “I yelled out to the guys in the shed, I just said run. They started running.” Also, an eyewitness Scott Manning added that there was a situation when the plane came extremely close to them. He said, “I ran screaming and he (the pilot) somehow just got over the top of that shed. That would have taken out, I’m sure, 12 people, ” was quoted as saying by Lokmat.

The two individuals who were in the plane, escaped narrowly even after sustaining injuries. It is believed that they belonged to a nearby flying school. The pilot lost his control over the plane when the engine stopped working in mid-air.

As per reports, the pilot (30) was being treated at the Northern Beaches Hospital, for spinal injuries and the passenger is suspected to have broken bones and a compound fracture. The passengers are also undergoing treatment at the Westmead hospital.

The all-format bilateral series between India and Australia will have three One Day Innings (ODI) matches, four Test matches and T20 Internationals (T20Is).

The tour will begin from November 2020 to January 2031. The first ODI match is scheduled to be held on November 27 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
