Gopalganj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s lookalike Abhinandan Pathak is set to contest elections from Hathua constituency in Gopalganj district of Bihar.
Pathak has filed his nomination papers as a candidate of Vanchit Samaj Party.
The 53-year-old’s face resembles that of Modi, due to which people confuse him for the Prime Minister.
Pathak said that Hathua is a backward area and is far away in terms of development.
He is originally from Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Currently, he lives in Savanaha village of Phulwaria block of Gopalganj, Bihar.
When he was asked about his appearance, Pathak said, “This is just a coincidence. Modi reached power but did not fulfil any promise. Now let’s see what happens next. I have come into politics to fight for the poor.”
He said that he will be facing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Social Welfare Minister Ramsevak Singh in this election.
Singh has represented Hathua in the Legislative Assembly many times, however, he has not been able to do welfare of his region
Voting will be held on November 3 in Hathua in the second phase of the Bihar assembly election 2020.
