Chandigarh: Twenty-two farmers’ unions that were part of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and have been protesting three contentious farm laws declared to form a political front ‘Samyukta Samaj Morcha’ to contest the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab on all 117 seats on Saturday.
However, Chief Ministerial candidates Balbir Singh Rajewal, clarified there was no alliance as of now with any political party, not even with Aam Admi Party (AAP). But he didn’t rule the possibility in future.
“Some of the unions are against it but won’t oppose,” Rajewal told the media here adding that they were doing it on public demand.
But 10 other unions of the state which were part of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha have refused to be part of the political front.
