New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha suspended 12 Parliamentarians for the entire winter session on Monday for creating ruckus in the upper house during Parliament’s monsoon session on August 11.
The suspended MPs are from Congress, Trinamool Congress, CPI, CPI-M and Shiv Sena.
The members are Syed Naseer Hussain, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Phulo Devi Netam, Chhaya Verma, Ripun Bora and Rajmani Patel of the Congress; Priyanka Chaturvedi, Anil Desai of the Shiv Sena; Elamaram Kareem of the CPI-M, Binoy Viswam of the CPI, Dola Sen and Shanta Chhetri of the Trinamool.
The suspension of the members could trigger war of words between opposition members and the government in the Parliament’s winter session that began on Monday. Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu indicated in the morning that he is unhappy over the affairs of the house in the previous session.
We (Leaders of Oppn parties) are meeting tomorrow to discuss future course of action. If voices of those who raise voices for others are suppressed, it’s like strangulating the democracy.
