Ayodha: The Sriram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra purchased around 1.15 lakh square feet of land, 2-3 km away from the Ram Janmabhoomi property to develop facilities for security forces, devotees and for activities of the trust. Trustee Anil Mishra stated that the two plots of land situated in Ram Kot and Tehri Bazaar were purchased from Harish Kumar Pathak, last week. The land was bought at Rs.690/square feet. He then further stated that, the owner of the land was paid Rs.8 crores.
A survey is in the process and according to the mayor of Ayodhya, Rishikesh Upadhya the survey is find out the residents of the land and whether they are tenants or owners. The land has several Muslim residents and mosques. The trust secretary Champat Rai said that the expansion of the temple would be done with mutual understanding.
In the very first week of March, the trust bought 7,285 square feet land near the Ram Janmabhoomi premises in accordance with its plan to expand the temple complex area to 107 acres from the present 70 acres. The trust bought the land for Rs 1 crore.
