Kolkata: Senior Trinamool MLA Suvendu Adhikari has resigned as a cabinet minister in Mamata Banerjee’s Bengal government.
Adhikari, whose gap within the ruling Trinamool Congress has been an open secret, wrote to Mamata today and emailed a copy of the letter to Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.
On Thursday, Adhikari resigned from the post of chairman of Hooghly River Bridge Commission (HRBC), a statutory body under the Government of West Bengal.
Following which, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has been appointed as the new HRBC chairman. Banerjee gets the post for the second time.
