Mumbai: Actor Rhea Chakraborty granted bail after nearly a month in jail with conditions over her arrest regarding drugs-related charges in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. Though, her brother Showik is denied any reprieve by the Bombay High Court.
Employees Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda of Sushant Singh Rajput have also been granted bail.
“We are delighted by the order. Truth and Justice have prevailed and ultimately the submissions on facts and law have been accepted by Justice Sarang V Kotwal”, said lawyer Satish Maneshinde of Rhea Chakraborty.
Chakraborty is ordered to submit ₹ 1 lakh as bond and be present daily at the nearest police station for 10 days after she is released.
She is also required to submit her passport and cannot travel abroad without the court’s permission.
“The arrest and custody of Rhea was totally unwarranted and beyond the reach of law. The hounding and witch-hunt by three central agencies, the CBI, Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau should come to an end. We remain committed to truth. Satyameva Jayate”, said Maneshinde.
She was arrested on September 8 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on charges of giving drugs to Sushant Singh Rajput, her boyfriend, who was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14.
She was accused for being “an active member of a drugs syndicate”.
Chakraborty said in her bail petition that she and her brother have been targets of witch-hunt by multiple agencies who found no proof of involving her in the death probe.
