Pune: RTI activist Ravindra Barhate, ex-journalist Devendra Jain, dismissed cop Shailesh Jagtap, along with 10 others have been booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
On Monday, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale issued orders in this matter. They have been booked earlier under several offences such as extortion, intimidation, land grabbing and other crimes.
In total, 14 First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against them at various police stations in Pune and other rural areas.
Another complaint has been filed against Ravindra Laxman Barhate, a resident of Madhusudha Apartment, Lullanagar in Bibwewadi, along with his aides.
This case was lodged in September at Hadapsar police station which is interlinked with Barhate and his accomplices who threatened a hotelier and attempted to grab his land.
Other than Barhate, Jain and Jagtap, other accomplices which are included in this case are dismissed cop Parvez Jamadar, Vishal Dhore, Sujit Singh, Aslam Pathan, Balaji Lakhade, Sachin Dhivar, Vitthal Reddy, Ganesh Amande, Nitin Ramdas Pawar.
Also, earlier two builders named Sudhir Karnataki and Rishikesh Bartakke filed a separate FIR against them at Kothrud and Samarth police station.
The anticipatory bail of Baharte has been rejected by the Supreme Court.
A resident of Chikkali, Satyabhama Popat Chandgude (40) also lodged a complaint at Koduk.
According to the FIR, Jagtap and his accomplices took Rs. 20 Lakh from the complainant in a deal of land parcel in Undri. When the possession of the plot denied, she demanded the money back. During that time, Jagtap threatened her for involving in a false criminal case.
She later decided to come forward and register the complaint after she came to know about other complaints lodged against Jagtap.
