Lucknow: Former MLC of Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav, passed away in his native village Kakor in Purwa on Saturday night. He was 92.
The veteran leader was not well since a long time.
He breathed his last at around 9 pm on Saturday, said a report.
His last rites were performed on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district. A huge crowd gathered during the final rites to catch a last glimpse of the leader.
Describing his death as an irreparable loss to the party, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said he was a simple man who did not even bother to get a house constructed in Auraiya town and stayed at his village home.
“He was an example of how a political leader can live a simple life among his people who vote for him,” Akhilesh said in his condolence message.
Yadav was the head of Auraiya’s block, Bhagya Nagar for a decade and a half and a member of the Legislative Council for three consecutive terms.
