Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has assured that schools in the state would reopen after the Durga Puja unless the third wave of the pandemic strikes.
The announcement was made today by Banerjee and it raises hopes for kids to get back to a structured class-room teaching after more than a couple of years.
Experts have warned of the third wave and Banerjee is well versed with it. Hence she put a condition for normalisation of the teaching process. “Santisation will be a must but the decision depends on how things unfold in the days to come,” Banerjee added.
Already states like Punjab Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and others have welcomed back students to schools though selectively. But the turn out has been quite dismal.
