Kolkata: Three of a family — man, woman and their elder son — were found dead in a waterlogged home near here on Tuesday. This was followed by a day of heavy showers with authorities suspecting electrocution as the cause of unfortunate incident.
The man appeared to have died trying to charge a phone, his wife and 10-year-old son died in their efforts to save him, according to the officials.
Their younger son — 4-year-old — was sitting on the bed and was crying for help. This prompted the neighbours to call the authorities.
All three people were declared ‘brought dead’ at the medical facility. The incident happened at Khardah, close to Barrackpore — 20 km from the city centre.
West Bengal experienced heavy rain since Sunday night and throughout Monday morning. Several areas of the city and other parts of the state were flooded seriously impacting the daily lives of people.
