Beijing: China has put a stop to current television programmes as it has planned to look for a whole new set of television programmes to be broadcasted all over the country. The new programmes will represent men in a more “masculine” way as China believes that today’s pop culture is “immoral” and it has had a bad impact on the youth.
“Broadcast and TV institutions must not screen idol development programmes or variety shows and reality shows,” China’s broadcast regulator, the National Radio and Television Administration was quoted as saying by news agency AFP.
The regulator has decided to promote inspiring individuals and definitely not “abnormal aesthetics” such as “sissy” men, “vulgar influencers”, stars’ inflated pay and performers with “lapsed morals”.
Chinese authorities have highly criticised the influence of K-Pop stars effeminate looks on male stars in China. The authorities urged to strongly promote the outstanding traditional culture of China and the advanced socialist culture.
On short notice, the regulators of Beijing TV cancelled the immensely popular talent show Youth with you 3 as the fans and the voters were indulging in malpractices according to the new regulations. The authorities’ goal is to curb this “chaotic” fandom as they believe it’s just irrational celebrity worship.
