New Delhi: Bollywood actors Sonu Sood and Dia Mirza have partnered with NITI Aayog, United Nations India and Discovery for a series to share the stories of 12 COVID-19 warriors.

They will together host the show called ‘Bharat Ke Mahaveer‘. It is an initiative to appreciate and thank the selfless heroes who crossed every border to save the lives of people without caring about themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic. The citizens could never forget the relentless services offered by them during those tough times.

Dia, who is also the UN Secretary-General’s SDG Advocate, and Sonu, who was recently lauded with Special Humanitarian Action Award by the Government of Punjab for his selfless efforts during the COVID-19, will be hosting the show together.

Sonu revealed the news through a tweet and wrote, “I am delighted to partner with @NITIAayog @UNinIndia, @DiscoveryIN & @deespeak for #BharatKeMahaveer – a nationwide campaign to celebrate India’s selfless #COVID19 heroes.
These heroes deserve to be heard and recognized. I am honoured to stand with them and by them.
Tune in!”

The official Twitter handle of NITI Aayog informed that “12 exceptional stories of kindness, humanity & courage” displayed by people during the time of Covid-19 crisis, will appear to the viewers in November.

The organisation also shared a small video which gave a glimpse of the project. In the video, Sonu and Dia talk about the excellent work done by the COVID-19 warriors towards the nation and people.

It also showed various segments in which certain working groups such as policemen, auto-drivers, cleaners, food donation camp organisers were highlighted and appreciated for their unstoppable courage and dedication for the people.

The UN Ambassador of Goodwill Dia Mirza told ANI, “Over the past few months, India has shown the world that when people come together, they can overcome any adversity. Instead of self-interest, we have seen an outpouring of solidarity during the pandemic. People are banding together to spread love, compassion, and positivity through their actions, thereby ensuring that the most vulnerable are not left behind. I am proud to call myself an Indian and proud to be part of this excellent initiative”.
