Kolkata: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly’s BCCI President’s XI lost to Jay Shah’s BCCI Secretary XI by one run in an exhibition match, on the eve of the board’s Annual General Meeting, at the Eden Gardens here on Friday.
The 15-overs-a-side match at the iconic Eden Gardens had its share of nostalgia. Ganguly, essaying the role of a finisher batting at No. 6, smashed two over the fences and four boundaries to score a brisk 20-ball 35.
BCCI secretary Shah did the star turn claiming three wickets conceding 58 runs with his spin bowling to defend 128. Shah’s wickets included Mohammad Azharuddin, one of Eden Garden’s favourite, who was trapped leg before for 2.
Earlier, opting to bat, BCCI Secretary’s XI posted 128 for three in the stipulated overs riding on a 92-run stand between Arun Dhumal (36) and Jaydev Shah (40).
