Leeds: Vrat Kohli’s poor form in the ongoing Test series between India and England is a cause of concern. Add to it, his mode of dismissal that has become a routine – pushing outside the off. Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has suggested that Kohli dial Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar fast for advice.
“He should give a quick call to SRT (Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) and ask what should I do?,” Gavaskar offered a quick solution to Kohli for him to address his batting woes. The Indian captain, who has had high expectations on him with the bat, has failed to make any impact in the series so far.
Kohli was one of the casualties to James Anderson on the first day of the third Test as he nicked one behind to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, when India were in all sorts of trouble. Well, India ended up managing just 78 in their first innings with their whole batting order crumbling down like a pack of cards but it is in these times that Kohli’s performance with the willow in hand seems to draw a lot more attention.
Kohli has consistently fallen to Anderson, including a golden duck in the very first Test match. Gavaskar, while talking about Kohli’s tendency to fish at deliveries outside the off-stump, said, “That is a bit of a worry for me because he is getting dismissed at the fifth, sixth, and even seventh stump. In 2014, he was getting out more around the off-stump.”
Will Kohli heed?
