New Delhi: The alleged Pegasus snoopgate had the Union government on the mat with the Opposition going hammer and tongs over it during the Monsoon session of the Parliament. Now, in what could be termed as a major development in the contentious issue, the Supreme Court has decided to form a technical expert committee to investigate the row.
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana made the announcement on Thursday opening the door for transparency in the judiciary which has often incurred criticism for allegedly toeing the government line.
It is pertinent to mention that the Mamata Banerjee administration in West Bengal has also set up a panel to probe snooping on her ministers and bureaucrats using the Israeli software.
