Mumbai: Former India batsman Suresh Raina, who recently opted out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, citing personal reasons, on Tuesday has demanded a thorough investigation into the violent attack on his aunt’s family by robbers in Punjab’s Pathankot.
Raina took to Twitter and revealed the details of the crime that claimed the lives of his uncle and cousin.
“What happened to my family in Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua and both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately, my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical and is on life support,” Raina’s tweet read.

“Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night and who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes,” he said, tagging the Punjab police and Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in his tweet.

Raina further said that his family is still not aware as to who was behind this attack.
As earlier reported, Ashok Kumar (58), Raina’s uncle, died while four members of his family sustained injuries in an attack by the robbers.
On August 15, Raina announced his departure from international cricket team, where he played 226 ODIs and 78 T20I’s scoring 5615 and 1604.
