Panchkula: Eighth-seeded Prapti Sen from Bengal beat unseeded Swastika Ghosh to clinch the women’s singles in the UTT national ranking north zone table tennis championship in Panchkula, Haryana on Thursday.
The women’s singles final saw a face-off between Prapti and Swastika, a Bengali girl representing Maharashtra.
However, Prapti committed fewer errors than Swastika to win the clash. Despite being unwell, the Kolkata girl took home a purse of Rs 72,000.
Meanwhile, in a gruelling men’s singles summit clash, Asian Games medallist Achanta Sharath Kamal beat local favourite Soumyajit Ghosh 4-3 to clinch the title at the Tau Devi Lal Multipurpose Indoor Stadium here.
