Kolkata: Incorrigible, cruel and deceptive – you run out of adjectives to define an inhuman clan called the Taliban. If denial of basic rights to commoners were not enough, the bigotry mindset now instigates these terrorists to vent their ire even on children. Read on…
According to a news report in ANI, the hardliners have executed a child in the Takhar province. Now what was the sinister design of the innocent soul? Believe it or not, the child was victimised for his father’s alleged links with the Afghan Resistance Force which was (or maybe is) in the midst of an intense battle with the Taliban at Panjshir, as posted by Panjshir Observer on Twitter.
Amid the contentious debate whether to recognise the Taliban regime or not, such barbaric acts should be a wake-up call, especially for countries cosying up to the insurgents. Pakistan, China, Russia and some OIC nations, isn’t it time to take a pragmatic view of the situation in Afghanistan and act upon it? To USA, India, France, Germany and others, a stern mesage – these Talibanis cannot be trusted even on a penny.
The Talibanis are in no mood to even alter their archaic and ungodly mentality. They would stick to their guns and all promises of being moderate and lenient are flawed and fallacious. Buying their words would be preposterous.
Time is running out. But what is the way out? Here’s suggestion – there are cracks within the system – reports of differences among various factions within the Taliban group are a hallmark of the fractured regime. If we are to save the ordinary Afghan from the clutches of these zealots, then we better reach out to the comparatively liberal among them and widen the fissures. Cutting off humanitarian aids would impact the ordinary citizens in dire straits, but trade embargos could be a solution. Atleast, this would be a step in the right direction if not a full-fledged war.
But, it’s easier said than done – unless good sense and unanimity prevail among world leaders who would be benevolent enough to rise beyond petty interests, Afghans would continue to hang around precariousness.
How far can we stretch our patience? How demoniac would we be to allow such dastardly behaviour? Wake up and smell the coffee, statesmen!!
