Dhaka: Famous Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen, who is also a popular advocate for human rights and equality, took to twitter to criticise former Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for apologising after worshiping Goddess Kali in Kolkata.

Nasreen wrote,”Sakib Al Hasan should not have apologised for attending Kali puja in Kolkata. His apology will strengthen the islamists to kill Muslims whoever visit puja mandap or sympathise with Hindus. He should have said what he did was right, love should be celebrated hate should be rejected.”

A man on Facebook Live claimed that Shakib’s behaviour had “hurt Muslim sentiments”.

Mohsin Talukder was apparently enraged at the cricketer for inaugurating a Kali Puja in Kolkata on November 12 and threatened to “cut him to pieces with a chopper for blasphemy”.
