London: Team India coach Ravi Shastri has caught the Covid virus following which he along with three of his support staff members has been kept in isolation. Bowling coach B Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and physio Nitin Patel have been isolated as a precaution with Shastri.
The Indian team is currently in the thick of action in the fourth Test against England at Oval. According to reports, all the players and the rest of the support staff had to undergo two lateral flow tests which returned negative after which they were okayed for the fourth day of the ongoing Test.
“They have undergone RT-PCR testing and shall remain in the team hotel and not travel with Team India until confirmation from the medical team.The remaining members of the Team India contingent underwent two Lateral Flow Tests one last night and another this morning. The members upon returning negative COVID reports were allowed to proceed for Day 4 of the ongoing fourth Test at The Oval,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.
Shastri, Arun, Sridhar and Patel will stay back in London as the rest travel to Manchester for the fifth Test.
